The Extension facets of SRM CAS mainly focus on outreach activities towards the rural farming community, which bridges the Lab and Land. The college pledges to improve farmer’s livelihood by providing need-based location-specific Agricultural and Horticultural training programmes both on and off-campus. The “Farmers Training Cell” being a part of SRM CAS spearheads the vision with the tagline of “One Week One Training Programme” in collaboration with the State Department of Agriculture/Horticulture, NGOs, SHGs and FPOs of Chengalpattu district. In academic aspects, the students were constantly exposed to established social Institutions like, Revenue Panchayat, State Department of Agriculture/ Horticulture, KVKs, NGOs, SHGs, Cooperatives, FPOs etc., As a golden feather in the cap SRM CAS have organized the “Uzhavar Peruvizha” on the account of Honourable Chancellor’s birthday in the month of August which witnessed a huge attendance of around 2000 farmers in and around the district. The Final year students of Agriculture and Horticulture have conducted a mega Exhibition and exhibited their learning outcomes of the RAWE / RHWE programme. Local farmers, State Department officials and school students have visited the exhibition.
